A history of regional impact
Launched five years ago, the Cybersec Challenge has grown from a local competition to become a regional benchmark in Latin America. Each edition brings together teams from different countries in the region, as well as special guests from other parts of the world, fostering cultural and professional exchange in a field as dynamic as cybersecurity. The goal is clear: to strengthen the technical capabilities of the participants, create a strong community and highlight the importance of collaboration to address global digital security challenges. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Cybersec Cluster proudly presents the fifth anniversary of the long-awaited Cybersec Cybersec Challenge 2025, a competition
designed to foster and empower human talent in Costa Rica and throughout the Latin American region.
As a key player in the Latin American cybersecurity ecosystem, Cybersec is dedicated
to promoting collaboration between different sectors, international communities and key
players in the field. Our goal is to address the challenges the world faces in cybersecurity by
working together in the search for innovative solutions.
Form a
team of 5 people,
plus the
coach/mentor.
Have an age range from 17 to 25 years old. The team should be made up of juniors and seniors (experience level).
Have a
mentor or coach
to guide
the team.
Possess basic
knowledge in
cybersecurity.
Equipment (computer)
for the competition.
Have completed the
registration process
and passed the
pre-selection phase.
International teams (outside
Costa Rica) will be managed
through invitations.

A Jeopardy-style competition
In the Cybersec Challenge 2025 , your team will be facing off against
Categories and Challenges:
Different categories are established that cover various areas of cybersecurity, such as cryptography, forensic analysis, vulnerability exploitation, among others.
Each category contains challenges of different difficulty levels, ranging from beginner to advanced.
Scoring:
Each challenge is assigned a score based on its difficulty. Teams accumulate points by correctly solving the challenges.
The more difficult the challenge, the higher the score obtained.
Real-time competition:
Teams compete in real time, selecting and solving challenges from different categories.
Time and speed of solving can also be important factors in determining the final score.

CYEBRSEC CHALLENGE IMPACT 2021 - 2025 EDITIONS
- First edition held in virtual format.
- 68 participants from all over Costa Rica joined to live this unique experience, marking the beginning of a legacy in cybersecurity.
The beginning of a great adventure
- Opening of the competition to three categories: College, University and Professional.
- 156 participants from all provinces of Costa Rica demonstrated their talent in this expanded edition.
The challenge grows
- For the first time, the Cybersec Challenge opened its doors to participants from all over Latin America.
- 174 competitors from different countries in the region accepted the challenge, raising the competition to a continental level.
- Costa Rica's National Cybersecurity Team participates in the European Cybersecurity Challenge Norway 2023
A step towards the regional stage
- Primera edición presencial con un enfoque latinoamericano.
- First on-site edition with a Latin American focus. 17 teams competed in this unique experience including 3 international teams, consolidating the Cybersec Challenge as a reference in the region.
